Maggie update:
Maggie began breathing in her own yesterday. The doctors have tried over the past few weeks to let her breathe spontaneously. She has only done it for short periods of time or not at all. Yesterday was the day! She was on spontaneous breathing all day. They put her on a rate last night to let her rest- breathing on your own is tiring! She’s back on spontaneous this morning!

She continues to remain stable. She’s in the ICU at UAB because we don’t have another facility that has accepted her (but we don’t mind!) she’s making slow progress and isn’t back to where she was consciously at the end of September.

I wasn’t prepared for the emotions that would come with the holidays and how different life is from last year. The tears come a little easier and frequently than usual. So, if you see us, give us a hug, let us cry and then make us laugh.

I am so thankful for the family and friends who have surrounded us. We are so very blessed!
